Great places to visit in our area

Heading west towards Rothbury, you will find Cragside (7.6 miles West) - a beautiful Victorian country house and gardens where the rhodendrons in May and June throw up a riot of colour as you drive through the estate. The hall was once the house of Lord Armstrong and was the first lit by hydroelectricity. Recent work has been done on its iron bridge which was re-opened to the public in 2009 and is well worth a visit. If you are new to the area you shouldn't miss a visit to Alnwick Garden (9.7 miles East) with its magnificent greenery, fountains and the largest tree house in Europe (which sells very nice hot chocolate at lunchtimes and good food all day.)

 The fountains at Alnwick Garden

Beautiful fountains and gardens created by the Duchess of Northumberland....  and eat in one of the biggest tree houses in the world! The Tree House -you may have guessed!
